As 2016 came to a close, Tani Adewumi was just five years old, and living in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. He and his family lived in a constant state of fear because the terrorist group Boko Harum was very active there; they endured harrowing attacks that eventually forced them to flee the country, their homeland.

I've recently started a crowdfunding campaign on behalf of a friend, who is doing great work in Uganda to support local coffee farmers. On my recent trip there I had the chance to meet some of those farmers, and I really want to help them in their quest to find new markets for their crop.

We have until April 12th to raise $2,730, which will cover travel and visa fees to the U.S. for Birenge and his business partner. Here they will be able to speak directly to buyers in an international forum, a huge opportunity.
