Take Action for Day of the Girl

The girls are coming… October 11 is Day of the Girl, and the UN Foundation is counting it down with small Girl Up tasks you can do every day.

They’re uniting girls to change the world because when a girl becomes empowered, it creates a snowball effect that impacts the lives of many. It changes not just one future, but the futures of the people she touches, too.

In just a few seconds a day, you can help spread the word, help send a girl to school, and more…

For example, today is Day 4:

Day 4: Get Girls on the Agenda

So the Millennium Development Goals will expire in 2015. Now what?

The international development community will come up with new goals for post-2015, and you can help ensure girls’ voices and needs are included. The Girl Declaration lays out an action agenda to make girls a priority.

Here are the past few days’ action steps:

Day 1: Spread the Word
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
We need YOU to educate yourself on the challenges that face adolescent girls in developing countries. Please share the following facts to spread awareness and make a difference!

Day 2: Tweet It Out
Why do you stand up for girls around the world?
Tweet your answer at @GirlUp with the hashtag #11DaysofAction and your tweet could be featured on our Wall of Supporters!

A positive message can catch on like wildfire.

Day 3: Donate A Photo
Help A Girl in Liberia Go Back to School
Think about all the photos you take every day. If you share just onephoto using the free Donate a Photo app, Johnson & Johnson will help Girl Up send 58 girls in Liberia back to school.

These are easy steps that anyone can take to make a difference in the lives of many.

How many girls can you help over the next week?

Take action daily up to October 11, the Day of the Girl.
